Born in Islington, London, Marcia did not fall into singing by chance. Singing runs deep in the veins of many an Escoffery. She is a former member of one of the U.K.'s gospel greats - The Escofferys - award winners for best female group '85-'87 BGA (Black Gospel Association), winners of the DMI, LGMA '94 (London Gospel Music Awards), also in the same category of Best Female Gospel Group, won in '88. Though Marcia has experimented with many different genres of music she will never forget her gospel roots and neither will those who know her throughout the industry. "Vivacious Marcia Escoffery, a former gospel singer, who recalls the young Madeleine Bell. Remember that name." - The Evening Standard. Marcia has worked and recorded with Stevie Wonder, Sting, Elton John, and performed live with Pavarotti, Eric Clapton and Vanessa Mae amongst others. More recent collaborations include work with I.G. Culture, where Marcia co-wrote 2 tracks "Something" and "Love Speed Movement", both on the second and latest New Sector Movements album entitled "Turn It Up" released on Virgin Records. Marcia's diverse style does not stop there. She co-wrote and arranged her vocals on "Don't You" from the Richy Pitch "Green Lanes" E.P. released on Above the Clouds Records and also featured on the final track "Music to Fly To" by British Hip Hop sensation Ty. In 2004 Marcia joined forces with Sindecut - tracks due for release are "Windows of Life" and "Inspire". Also in 2004 she began working with an upcoming songwriter production team named Twin Spirit - watch this space! Marcia will try a bite from any musical pie and also worked with C Swing (co-producer of Jamelia's latest album "Thank You") where she wrote the song "Start Again". Her newest musical collaboration is with the deeply soulful Low Budget Soul, where she has written and performed two songs alongside Randolph Matthews and producer Tris 'Ol' English' Browne.
