Deborah is the voice of Silhouette Brown and Robert Mitchell's Panacea. Both projects released acclaimed albums in 2005. Having been a backing vocalist with Bembe Segue she was introduced to musical pioneers Dego and Kaidi and became involved in the Silhouette Brown project which has been championed by many in th UK, US and Europe including Gilles Peterson, Junior and L'il Dave, Benji B, Patrick Forge, Trevor Nelson and many more. Silhouette Brown also had the honour of being one of the opening acts for the North Sea Jazz Festival 2005, as well as playing at Roma Jazz Festival 2005, and more acclaimed gigs across the UK and Europe. The album is available on Ether Records. Panacea is the brain child of Robert Mitchell and is at the cutting edge of contemporary jazz music. Now in her 5th year with the band, Deborah has made her mark, personalising Robert's melodies and lyrics and infusing the band with her own style within its developmental context of experimentation and improvisation.The new album 'Trust' is available through the F-ire label.
Deborah has also worked with Eska Mtungwazi as backing vocal director for her live band, with Ty for the Panacea album and Bugz in the Attic on the Gene Harris re-work 'LosAlamitoslatinfunklovesong'. In the past she has recorded with Lewis Taylor, Michael Mondesir, Ray Hayden/Opaz and Konrad Gordon/Pushi amongst others, and is currently working with Unforscene, Domu, Max Cole, Uschi Classen, Richard E, Ol' English, Kamara and Simon S / Futuristica Music. |
